Ski racing for the advanced 9 -11 year olds
ANGSL/Bantam Parent Chair Louise Robinson 615- 0190
Bantam is more advanced than Alcan Nancy Greene but not quite Alpine Racing. Children of this group are strong skiers aged 9-11, who are interested in continuing to improve their skiing with an increasing focus on racing. The extra coaching, additional racing and club provided uniform add up to a terrific package for the older kids.
Starts January, 2008 10 am till 3 pm every Sunday. $175 (+$30 BC Alpine parent registration)
You might be eligible for the Children's Fitness Tax Credit. Click here for more information.

We are looking forward to a great year of training, racing and having tons of fun! Here are a few things you need to know about the club…..
1. The program runs Sundays from 10:00-15:00. The participants will start skiing January 10th, 2009. Our coach is Tyler Vidal. Tyler is an enthusiastic certified Canadian Ski Alliance coach with several years of coaching experience.
2. Your child will be supplied with a team jacket (outer shell with detachable fleece liner) and warm-up pants. We will need a cheque, post-dated for May 2009, for $200.00 before the uniform will be handed out. This cheque will be returned to you when the uniform is returned in April 2009.
3. The Bantam Racers will be able to participate in a race at Shames Mountain, February 21-22th, 2009. Most children look forward to participating in races, however for various reasons some children chose not to (this is not a problem!).
4. We will need parents to help with the race. A race committee is being set up and you will be contacted about how you can help!
5. While children are in the program there will be no out of bounds skiing. Out of bounds skiing is not encouraged by the club. The club will take no responsibility for lost or hurt children while skiing out of bounds.
6. Racing gear is not required, your child can use their regular ski equipment. Of course helmets must be worn at all times. If your child needs a new helmet buy one with ear protection because they will need it if they choose to join the Alpine Program in later years. Helmets with ear protection can be purchased at All Season’s.
7. The Ski Club makes $500-$700 from the sale of BC Alpine lottery tickets (grand prize is a SUV!). Each family is expected to sell at least one book of tickets.
8. The Shames Mountain Ski club does not have a formal behavior code, however all participants are expected to behave in an appropriate manner while representing the club!
